Fabio Ciulla
Biography
I am a first year PhD student in Physics at Northeastern University and I got my Master of Science with Summa Cum Laude grade in Physics at University of Rome "La Sapienza".
Since I began my bachelor degree thesis I got involved in research in the field of Physics of Liquids in the group of Francesco Sciortino.
During the master I continued working in the same group performing computer simulation of fluid systems. We worked jointly with the experimental group of Professor David Weitz at Harvard University and the study results in an article
published in Nature that received more than 100 citations.
This made me very confident with modelling and computer simulation. Moreover I gained experience in international team working and writing articles.
Despite my previous interest was about colloids, I got involved with the study of complex systems since I attended lectures of Professor Luciano Pietronero. As a final project for his course I developed a code simulating an order book - a financial tool - and I discovered never seen before behaviour then supported by empirical facts. The code was optimized together with the Pietronero group and the study has been published in PRE.
Finally, I approached Alessandro Vespignani group about an year ago at Indiana University. So far I mainly worked and still working on Scientometry and Networks properties.
